These is just a wonderful trilogy for adults and kids alike. If I had to pick a favorite, I would have to say the 1st one. It brings back memories of a good time, and I love the soundtrack. Of course I think all of them are great, even Shrek the Third. Seems like many were disappointed with the last one, but I don't get why ?

I love the first two, not the third one. It is just plain. The story line is pretty cool, the bad fairy tale guys rallied up is pretty interesting. But somehow it just doesn't have the same kind of things that the first two have to make you laugh.

Yeah I agree about the third one. It was cool to see all the old characters back and see some new ones, but it just didn't have that appeal that the first two had. My favorite is still Shrek 2. Love it when Donkey turns into a " Stallliioonn Baby" :p.

That's what I don't get. I thought it was just as appealing as the other two, and I loved the new Arthur character. It did seem to be a bit shorter than the others, but other than that I thought it was just as brilliant.
I wonder if this is it for the Shrek movies? I'd love to see another one come out.

I may be the only one in the world that doesn't like Shrek, but he just bothers me. The movies are kinda funny, but that big green ogre just does my head in.

The problem, dear at4101, is that the conceit of Shrek - a parody of fairy tales infused with contemporary and ironic references - is fine for one, maybe two movies, max. It's the same with Mel Brooks movies: the early film spoofs (Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein) are much funnier than his later ones (Spaceballs, Robin Hood: Men in Tights). Why? Because such humor tends to run out of steam after a while.

I agree. Sometimes, filmmakers tend to milk a successful movie and make so many sequels that what started out as being funny the first time gets steadily repetitive and stale.

So what was missing from part 3 in your opinion? Were there any parts that you liked, and if so what? What parts did you think were lacking?

I've gotta agree with FilmBuff on this one. I love Shrek 1 and I liked 2 as well, but this one had too many things going on for no reason. Things like the three sightless mice and the Mr. Bill-like Gingerbread Guy with no rhyme or story-relevant need to be there.

I like the animation and some of the inside jokes, such as having Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty doing the Charlie's Angels bit. I like the notion of Prince Charming being reduced to doing a nightclub act.
Not too keen on the plot, though, and the fact that this Third chapter sometimes has the same problem of kid's Saturday morning cartoons...slapstick for slapstick's sake alone.
