So ok I used to really enjoy Tom Cruise and think that he is a fine actor, but his personal views get in the way of me liking him now. Not that I care what his beliefs are, but I just hate the way he pushes them on other people and then that comment that he made to Brooke Shields just took the cake. I have a hard time watching his films now and looking at him as just the character in the film.

After watching his Scientology video, yeah, he is a little bit of nut. Nothing against his personal believe, but you'll just have to keep it under the wrap sometimes.

Oddly enough, I can still tolerate him in some of his flicks, particularly his latter ones with Steven Spielberg. I try to ignore his rather, um, eccentric religious beliefs.

I completely agree with this. Tom Cruise used to be one my favorite actors, but it's just hard to look at him in the same light anymore. I can still watch his movies, but I don't think of him in they same way anymore. Plus all the rumors that he is a control freak over his wife doesn't help much either.

I wasn't a big fan of Tom Cruise when he was younger - I liked him in Taps, but then he started being cast in roles where he was the cute-and-cocky brash boy who won everything at the end and that bored me. I like him better now, but I'm still not a huge fan.

I guess I am one that can just look past their personal life and concentrate on their performance, and performance wise Tom is one of the best. I don't agree with his weird opinions but I pay about as much mind to them as I do to taking a drink of water. I simply like actors for their talent, not their beliefs and lifestyles.

I agree. It's sort of silly to deprive one self from watching a good movie because the star has some offbeat beliefs. If it was, okay, that the guy was a pedophile or an ax murderer, fine. That's different. But to say "I won't go see War of the Worlds because that weirdo is the star" is to miss out on a good film. I'm not saying it's wrong...but it's a bit illogical.

Nice to see so many people have my view on him. I always loved Tom Cruise from the beginning of his career. But now I have different views on him and not even due to his Scientology issues, but to how he his rude to his fans. He is the most disrespectful actor I have ever been aware of .

I also agree with this, and I think it's too bad that his legacy will be more about his religious beliefs than his movies. A darn shame, really.

I don't mind watching his older stuff, but I'm finding his creep factor now outweighs his acting and I'd just as soon not watch him. He was okay in War of the Worlds, but I think almost anyone else in the role would have made it a better movie.
