I'm not that big into movie soundtracks but I have heard that the soundtrack from "Titanic" is well worth a listen. Any advice ?

In the movie, James Horner's score really does pretty well at doing its job. The CD is okay, I suppose, but it is pretty skimpy considering the movie lasts 3 hours and 16 minutes. So skimpy, in fact, that when Titanic became the best selling soundtrack ever, fans complained and the producers released a follow up album, Back to Titanic.
Musically, it's a good album, but it's much too short...but that's just my take on it.

While I agree that the first CD that came out in 1997 was, in a word, a bit skimpy, the Titanic soundtrack is wonderful. Even if it's in moderation, I like the Celine Dion song at the end of the album.

Thanks all. I don't mid the skimpy part. I think I will have a listen.

It is a nice CD, really. And the producers did try to make up for the skimpiness by issuing a follow-up a year later.

I don't think that I've ever heard the soundtrack itself, but I like Celine Dion's song and I also like the incidental music that the steerage passengers played. I think it was Celtic folk music.
Also from what I remember after seeing the movie a few times, I enjoyed Horner's score, too.

Wow, I loved the movie. Never realized they made a soundtrack of the movie. I don't think it would be something I would be interested in .
