Default My town has NO theaters

My town has ONE really sucky theater, BC, (sorry not saying the real name, don't like giving away where I live. But anyway, PACKED with hoodlums day and night, food stand costs $5 for a SMALL popcorn, $6 for a SMALL drink, it's really ridiculous there.

There's also a theater about 20 minutes away at a small mall, that theater sucks too. It's really small, it can probably fit about 25 people in each theater. They don't have too many theaters either so not many movies are out at once.

Wouldn't ever recommend coming out here just for a movie!

Wow It is amazing that you guys have no theaters. I live in a town of 50,000 and we have like six movie theaters and they are building two more. I do not know why though.

K to J you must live in a small town. Those prices are insane. We pay about $5 for a large bucket of popcorn and around $3 for a large soda, and I think are prices are too high here. We have theaters all around us.

Oh, gee, what a drag. I'm sorry to hear that. Those prices for soda and popcorn really do seem ludicrous to me. Prices are high everywhere regarding movie theatres and concession stands, unless one holds a membership to a theatre that enables a person to get into movies for a discount, or if someone goes to a matinee.

In our general area, there are a number of movie theatres, but, imho, the best ones are as follows:

Coolidge Corner Theatre

Brattle Theatre

Somerville Theatre.

The prices for concessions are a bit steep here too ($3.00 for a brownie or cookie, $3.00 for a small soda and $3.00 for a small popcorn), but I don't buy the concessions very often. I do, however, hold annual memberships to both the Coolidge and the Brattle, which enable me to get into movies at discount prices.

The Somerville Theatre charges $8.00 for an evening screening, which is still not too bad insofar as theatre admission prices go. However, in most places around here, movie theatre admission prices are rather insane also--close to ten bucks for a movie admission, especially in the large multiplex cinemas. Whew!!
